“A visit by the sommelier”
If you would like to learn more about making, serving and pairing wines, this is the package for you. The programme is primarily intended as a fun and educational experience for friends, clubs and teams, and is conducted by Maris Kivistik, owner of the Uue-Saaluse Winery. The tasting includes grape wines, sparkling wines and fruit and berry wines from Uue-Saaluse Winery.
The package includes:
- blind tasting of 5 wines from Uue-Saaluse Winery (you will be tasked with guessing the ingredients used) Sommelier tips for serving and pairing wine
- Accommodation in a double room in the Pesa Hotel for 1 person
- Two-course dinner at the hotel restaurant
- Relaxing holiday at Sõstar minispa
- For a minimum group of 6 people (or for the minimum fee) and a maximum of 25 of people

You will spend your day surrounded by breathtaking scenery – the Big and Small Taevaskoda, Valgesoo bog during blooming season, park-like pine forests full of mushrooms, Meenikunno bog at sunset, the colourful Postal Road, the sandstone outcrops along the banks of the Ahja and Võhandu rivers, the caves of Piusa, avifauna on the Räpina polder, and many other enchanting scenes that you can witness and photograph.
For those who want to discover the surrounding area on their own, there are many marked and well-maintained hiking trails in Põlva county that track through forests, bogs and along waterways. Designated areas in the forest or by the lakeside feature well-maintained barbecue areas equipped with everything you need. If you are visiting with a larger group, we recommend enlisting an experienced guide for going out in nature. You can opt for a canoe, raft or inflatable boat to take to the water, go snowshoeing in the bogs and mires, or ride a scooter through picturesque places that have their own special story to tell.

If you are coming to Põlva county with the whole family, we recommend:
- taking a stroll from the Pesa Hotel to the Põlva dam reservoir in the city centre where you can visit a fun floating adventure park with an obstacle course consisting of 17 different installations. Lifeguards ensure safety when swimming. (add link to Põlva Wakepark)
- following the historic Postal Road as it takes you to the Karilatsi Open Air Museum with its windmill and village swing, as well as to the family-friendly Estonian Road Museum where children can explore the ever-popular traffic city.
- visiting Taevaskoda, known as the natural treasure of Põlva county. You can even head on board the river boat Lonny take a tour of the dam reservoir.
- hiking along the Valgesoo hiking trail. The 2.5 km long well-maintained boardwalk is safe even for younger family members.
- taking the train from Põlva to the Piusa caves. This way you get to experience the train ride and see the biggest “sandpit” in the Baltic countries. You can have fun crafting a sandcard or a sand bottle. During the summer, the café in the Piusa Visitor Centre also serves food and drinks.
- driving towards Setomaa and taking a turn into the Meenikunno landscape protection area where hikers can find a 2.4 km boardwalk ending at the Päikeseloojangu or Sunset rental hut with a breathtaking view of the bog. The lakes Nohipalu Valgejärv, known
- as one of the most transparent lakes in Estonia, and Nohipalu Mustjärv, one of the most opaque lakes with brown water in Europe, are also located in the same area.
